The Book Of HOV is a tribute exhibition at the Brooklyn Public Library, Central Branch, recognizing Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter’s extraordinary journey from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to global figure.
The multimedia exhibit explores JAY-Z’s global impact as a musician, innovator, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
The Book Of HOV presents thousands of archived objects, including original recording masters, never-before-seen photos, iconic stage wear, prestigious awards and recognitions, as well as videos and artifacts from every facet on JAY-Z’s professional life. Our goal, with The Book of HOV tribute exhibition, is to provide a behind-the-scenes look at a Hall of Fame songwriter and performer, successful business person, and a consequential philanthropist who has never forgotten the lessons he learned on the road to success. And the borough where his journey began.

The exhibition resides at the Brooklyn Public Library - Central Library located at 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238. For directions to the Library please click here.

This exhibition is free and open to the public. Please note that certain areas of the exhibition will be timed upon entry due to capacity restrictions.

The books represented are from JAY-Z’s personal collection. There are over 300 books that have been donated to the library collection. The books can be found at both the Central Library and Marcy Branch locations.

In conjunction with The Book of Hov, the first exhibition dedicated to Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter’s unparalleled body of work, Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation have joined forces to create 13 limited-edition library cards, each featuring art from an iconic JAY-Z album—from Reasonable Doubt to 4:44. Visitors can collect all 13 cards, available at various branches across the borough beginning July 14. A Brooklyn Public Library card is all New Yorkers need to access millions of free books and media; vinyl records and musical instruments; free passes to cultural organizations; and programming, classes, social services and resources for every stage of life. Get yours while supplies last!
